Welcome back! Boy i really have a lot to answer for when it comes to the amount of red lipstick i own don’t i? But we won’t mention that, remember our little pact? ( If you don’t… join us here in part 1)
Today ill be talking about the Cremesheen and Satin red lipsticks in my collection. If these words mean nothing to you… feel free to check out my guide to Mac Lipstick Finishes here.
Satin – The Formula
The Formula is generally considered Semi-Matte as they are not as matte as the Matte or Retro formulas, are are more comfortable to wear. They have a 4 hour wear time on me, and generally have an opaque coverage.
Sail La Vie* (Mac Hey Sailor)This colour blows my mind, its a bright orange with subtle orange undertones. On darker skins it tends to be more of a burnt orange, but on my skin its bright and fun! (*Scarlett Ibis is darker and redder, Dangerous is matte and darker!)
Red Racer* (Mac Hey Sailor)
A bright medium blue red. Love this colour, it looks a little pinker in certain lights, but looks very blue red on my pale skin! (Dupes – Mac Heartless*)
Love Goddess (Mac and Marilyn Monroe)
A bright pink-red with lots of sheen. It looks redder on tanner skins, but on me, its obviously pink, as above! I love this colour. Its flattering to even the palest skin tones, and the sheen even makes your lips look bigger!
Just a Bite (Indulge Collection 2013)
Described by mac as mid tone blue red, id actually call it a medium garnet red. its opaque in one swipe with a nice sheen. It leaves a good level of staining post wear so the colour time is extended, meaning it has lasted me through at least 3 steak and chips dinners with my dear husband! (Dupes – Similar to Runaway Red)
M.A.C Red (Permanent line)
This is a classic blue based red from mac. No shimmer or frost but a nice creamy texture as with all of the Satin lipsticks. The Semi Matte base really works with this lipstick. It gives enough staying power to be truly wearable but not as matte as ruby woo which can look dry and flat. (Dupes – Mac Ronnie Red is pinker!)
Cremesheen – The formula
Cremesheen lipsticks pack a hell of colour for such a small tube, glossy finish and so suffer on wear time. Roughly 2-4 hours and are quite comfortable to wear! These are a big favourite in the beauty world, and i can see why, although i don’t always run to them at the counter, they are lovely!
Party Line (Permanent Line)
This is a bold, creamy plum colour. This colour looks stunning with a nice liner, Mac Burgandy is gorgeous, or for a budget option Wet N Wild Brandy Wine. This one has excellent wear time in my opinion, fading down to a nice stain after a few hours and
Prepare For Pleasure* (Mac Divine Knight christmas 2013/14)
On Paper its a pinky blue red, quite pink actually! On the lip though its actually more of a true red. I bought this on a whim, but i don’t regret it, it applies beautifully! (Dupes – *Mac Love Goddess is similar but pinker maybe? )
Apres Chic* (Mac Apres Chic 2012)
A browny orange brick red, with loads of drama thrown in! It is more subtle than a true blue red, but still drawers attention! I loved it so much i bought two for myself, and i love this formula. It applies like a dream and lasts much longer than my other Cremesheen lipsticks. I love that it makes my lips look bigger with all the shine!
On Hold (Permanent Line)
A gorgeous, coral red. I find this flattering on a wide range of skin tones. It has an ok wear time, and is suitable for a lot of occasions. Its a tad dark on my skin, but on tanner skins runs the fine line between a natural tone with a touch of drama but with an added oomph.
So thats it for tonight, are you enjoying the series so far?
